Fiberoptic Cable
Fiberoptics are long strands of optical material that can be used to transmit information passed in the form of light pulses. Typically these are either glass fiber or acrylic which both have high optical clarity. These can be made to pass light just at their ends, or roughened on their surface to transmit light along their length. Similarly they can be cracked to allow light to escape. These are powered by an LED or an array of LEDs shone in through one end.
