| The LCD component from within a computer screen. Comprising two sheets of glass between which a liquid crystal layer is deposited. A catastrophic fault for these devices is a cracking of the glass plates which disrupts the ability of electricity to pass through the liquid crystal and results in 'dead' spots which show as black areas. |
